Our favourite Russian Kulich for Easter
We always cook this our favourite Russian Easter bread? ятв even not only for Easter. It is so yummy that we bake it at least once a month.
Ingredients for Kulich
1 kg Flour
1 1⁄2 tbsp Milk
300 g Margarine
2 1⁄2 tbsp Sugar
1⁄2 pac yeast
3⁄4 tsp. Salt
200 g Raisins
1 pac Vanilla
Dissolve the yeast (grateв or dry) In milk, add half of the flour, stir.
Cover and put in a warm place.
When doubled add the salt, egg yolks mashed with sugar, melted margarine and vanilla.
Separately, beat egg whites and gently add to the dough.
Add the remaining flour and knead.
Leave in a warm place to rise.
Then add raisins, and stir.
In the form at the bottom put the waxed paper.
Put the dough into molds not more then 1/2 height, because it must rise in the oven.
Put in the oven at 180°.
When the dough rise, brush the tops of it with beated egg yolk.
When browned, cover the top with a wet sheet of paper.
Bake about 1 hour - 1 hour 20 minutes. Then you can cover the cake with glaze or sprinkle with colored sugar or make both like I did my Kulich you can see in the main photo..
